Retro means retroism.
A TV station has created a YouTube channel to broadcast popular dramas or music programs in the past. A lot of koreans are into this retro craze these days.
Recently, a new term used by Koreans is 'Online Topgol Park.'
Tapgol Park is located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, in Korea. As it is a favorite park for senior citizens, it is used as a word to symbolize ‘old’.
Therefore, online topgol park is used as a place to listen to old dramas or music online.
With the retro craze, a Korean broadcasting program in December 2019 summoned a singer who disappeared after had been active in the past.
He made his debut in 1991 and had been active for two to three years. The singer who disappeared has been summoned for the first time after 30 years and has been causing a storm since the show broadcast.
He is a singer, Yang Joon il.
Yang Joon-il, a Korean-American, debuted in the early 1990s, and his signature songs were Rebecca, GaNaDa RaMaBaSa, Dance with me, lady, etc.
At that time, Yang Joon-il was only well received by a small number of enthusiastic fans because he performed with unfamiliar western music and exotic stage performances that did not suit domestic sentiments, and was kicked out of Korea due to visa problems and Korean sentiments.
After 8years, Yang Joon il released his album 'Fantasy' in 2001, and returned under the name of JIY, a project group called V2, not Yang Joon-il. However, he was unable to continue his career due to various problems like contract-related conflicts with his agency, and ended his career as a singer.
But he made a spectacular comeback with a retro craze that brought him back to the spotlight in the online topgol park and also titled "The unfortunate genius ahead of the time."
